Melanoma remains the deadliest form of skin cancer. A hallmark of Melanoma is its propensity to invade and spread to distant organs when the tumor is a few mm in thickness. My research focuses on understanding the biologic processes driving this aggressive clinical behavior, identifying new molecular targets of treatments, and better understanding the relationship between response and toxicity to treatment. I rely on studying melanoma patients’ specimens linked to clinical information to prioritize targets for functional studies. My team and I are also interested in using cutting edge technology to develop simple tools and assays that can be used in clinics. We are also interested in machine learning to create predictive models from multi-dimensional data.
