I. A. Palani received the Bachelor of Engineering degree in production engineering from the Sathyabama Engineering College, Univeristy of Madras, in 2004, the Master of Engineering degree in manufacturing engineering from the A.C. College of Engineering, Anna University, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree from the Precision Engineering Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras, in 2010. He was a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist with Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, from September 2010 to December 2011. He has joined IIT Indore as an Assistant Professor, in January 2012. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Discipline of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Indore, India. His area of research interests are smart materials and structures, shape memory alloy, laser assisted surface processing, laser-based micro-manufacturing, mechatronics system design, and optical Instrumentation.
