Hla-Hla Thein received the M.B.B.S. degree from the Institute of Medicine 1, Yangon, Myanmar, in 1980, the M.D. degree from the United States, in 1991, the M.P.H. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, CA, USA, in 1997, and the PhD. degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, in 2006. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, an Investigator at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research Health Services Research Program and Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment Collaborative, and an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. Her research interests include infectious disease and cancer research, health services research using large health administrative data, evidence synthesis, health-related quality of life and utility methods, decision-analytic modeling and cost-effectiveness analysis, pharmacoeconomic evaluation of public health interventions, and patients’ perceptions in the evaluation of health care.
