Hideaki Furukawa

Hideaki Furukawa (Member, IEEE) received the B.E., M.E., and Dr. Eng. degrees in material and life science from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 2000, 2002, and 2005, respectively. Since 2005, he has been with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Tokyo, Japan. He is a Member of the AKARI Architecture Design Project of NICT. From 2013 to 2014, He was a Deputy Director of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan. His research interests include photonic information technology and photonic networks. Dr. Furukawa was the recipient of the 2013 Young Researcher Award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the 2015 Ichimura Prize in Science for Excellent Achievement from the New Technology Development Foundation. He is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc), the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), and the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP).
