He leads research on the mechanics of composite studies using low velocity impact and Split Hopkinson Bar techniques. He has won a number of research grants nationally and internationally, including those from the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB), the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS from Academy Sciences of Malaysia) and INTEL Corporation. He has published over 96 papers, of which 79 are in peer-reviewed journals and more than 60 proceedings at local and international levels. His research interests include polymer composites (natural and synthetic), impact, sandwich structures and polymers.
Specialties: Research and development on natural fibre reinforced polymer composites, sandwich structures and biopolymers. Also undertaken research activities on mechanics of composites and low velocity impact together with Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar Apparatus.
