Data scientist with over 7 years' experience in Machine Learning, Text Mining, Statistics and Big Data analysis and architecture design.
Currently working as a senior data scientist within the Research Analytics & Financial Crime Threat Mitigation group at HSBC, London.
Prior to joining HSBC, I worked as senior data scientist at True212 and as a research scientist at the Knowledge Media Institute (KMI) of the Open University. Both roles focused on designing and building large-scale Machine Learning and Deep Learning models to address various real-world commercial, societal, and political problems, including but not limited to social media recommendation and monitoring systems, crisis-related event detection and management, opinion mining, and user behaviour analysis.
During my industrial and academic career, I have been involved in the management and development of several UK- and EU-funded projects such as Project-RER, ROBUST, SENSE4US, COMERADES and TRIVALENT and have published 1 book and over 30 articles in world-leading conferences (e.g., ICWSM, ISWC, WWW) and journals (e.g., IPM, IJESM, SWJ).
Previously to joining KMI, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Lincoln, UK and as a software engineer for NordicSense, Finland.
