Hardev Singh

Hardev Singh (M'61–SM'90–LSM'04) was born in India. He received the B.A. degree in physics and mathematics and the B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He started his career in the industry, where he held various positions of Electrical Engineer (R&D and Design), Chief Engineer, Vice President, and, finally, Executive Vice President directing five operating divisions engaged in designing, manufacturing, and marketing high-power ac/dc power supplies, controllers, and capacitors for applications in radars, television transmitters, X-ray sources, electron beams, electrostatic precipitators, chlorination, ozonation, linear accelerators, etc. From 1989 to 1997, he managed the Army Pulse Power Center, Ft. Monmouth, NJ, which was a unique DOD resource built at a cost of 25 million dollars to conduct R&D in pulsers and associated components for numerous DOD applications. Between 1997 and 2001, he was with ARL-WMRD, where he was engaged in R&D and pursued the development of advanced solid-state switches. Since 2001, he has been with the U.S. Army RDECOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, working toward the advancement in high-energy weaponry. He acts as a Consultant to the other services, agencies, and the intelligence community. He is a recognized DOD Expert on switching technology. He is the holder of four patents and has published over 80 papers in archival journals, government technical reports, and conference proceedings. Mr. Singh was the recipient of the Army R&D Achievement Award in 1992 and 1994, as well as the R&D 100 (MCT) Citation in 1993. He serves on several executive and technical DOD committees, as well as those of national and international workshops, conferences, and symposia.
