个人简介
Hans Georg Limberger received the Diploma in physics from the
University of Freiburg, Breisgau, Germany, in 1983 for the work on high resolution molecular beam laser spectroscopy
and the Ph.D. degree (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany, in 1988 for the work on
cluster spectroscopy (performed at Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart). Since 1991, his work
at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) concentrates on optical fiber components and devices
for telecommunications and sensing with a particular focus on fiber gratings, active and passive fiber grating
devices, and fiber lasers. He is the author of more than 175 journal and conference contributions including 25 plenary
and keynote presentations, and three patents. He was the Vice Chairman of COST action 246 and the Chairman of COST 270
(reliability of optical components and devices in communications networks and systems). He participated in a number of
international and national research projects. He was a member of different Technical Program Committees, i.e.,
European Conference on Optical Communications, ECOC (2009–2017); Optical Fiber Communication Conference, OFC
(2010–2013); Bragg Gratings, Photosensitivity, and Poling in Glass Waveguides, BGPP. He has been Topical Chair
of ECOC 2011 and 2016. He was a Co-Chair and Local Organizer of the 15th International Laser Physics Workshop,
LPHYS’06 (2006), EPFL, Switzerland. He is a Founding Chair of a Summer School on Photosensitivity in Optical
Waveguides and Glasses, POWAG set-up in 1999. He was a part of different conference steering committees (ECOC, LPHYS,
POWAG).
