His current research interests include dielectric phenomena under high voltage, discharge physics and plasma technology, and condition maintenance of power equipment. He has published more than 100 journal articles and conference papers.
Dr. Zhang received the 2008 Chatterton Young Investigator Award from IEEE 23rd International Symposium on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum (ISDEIV), 2006 Fok Ying Tong Research Award for University Young Teachers from China Ministry of Education (MOE), 2003 National Top 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award from China MOE, and some other awards and prizes from Chinese Government.
