个人简介
Following a six years service in the British Army followed by work in the security industry, Glyn moved to Higher Education by completing undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Sports Science and Exercise Physiology, respectively. Glyn lectured at Kingston University and St. Mary's University College, London before arriving at Northumbria in 2009, where he is now a Professor in Human and Applied Physiology and The Dean of the Graduate School for the University.
Glyn is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), he is on the Editorial Board for the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports and the European Journal of Sport Sciences. His research interests predominantly lie in the optimisation of human performance where he focusses efforts on understanding the stress-recovery-adaptation continuum using training and nutritional interventions to manipulate human physiology. His expertise and contributions the discipline have been recognised by his appointment to the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (Unit of Assessment 24).
Glyn collaborates extensively with colleagues across the globe in academia, elite sport, national governing bodies and industry. He has been a consultant physiologist to the FA, English Institute of Sport, professional rugby and football, UK Athletics, GB Canoeing and GSK. His work as an applied physiologist and researcher has contributed to support of numerous international athletes that include, European, World and Olympic medallists. He continues to work closely with colleagues in the English Institute of Sport and Olympic sport across a number of areas of research and innovation to enhance performance, facilitate exercise recovery and optimising neuromuscular adaptation.
