George C. Zalidis received the B.S. degree in agriculture from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1980, and the Ph.D. degree in soil physics from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA, in 1987. Currently, he is a Professor of Soil Pollution and Degradation with the Laboratory of Applied Soil Science, Faculty of Agronomy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research interests include soil quality and sustainability, bioremediation of degraded areas, restoration and rehabilitation of wetland ecosystems, wetland inventory, and mapping.
