Bio
Dr Geoff Fowler is laboratory manager for the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering section. He joined CECWM in 1990 as a research student, completing a PhD entitled "The thermal conversion of contaminated soils in carbonaceous adsorbents". He then spent four years as a research associate within the Centre studying the fundamental chemistry of waste-binder interactions in stabilisation-solidification systems technologies, and more recently investigating regeneration behaviour of water treatment activated carbons. His current research interests include contaminated land, particularly the application of Simultaneous Thermal Analysis - Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (STA-FTIR) to investigate the organic pollution of contaminated soils.
Geoff is also a member of the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association and the Society of Chemical Industry, being actively involved as the Honorary Secretary of the SCI Environment and Water Group Committee.
