个人简介
Carlos Garcia Rubio received a Telecommunications engineering degree in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Telecommunications in 2000, both from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. In 1993 he was honored with a research fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Education of Spain. From 1993 to 1996 he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Telematic Engineering, Technical University of Madrid, where he was involved in the design, analysis and simulation of high-speed networks under self-similar traffic. In 1997 he joined the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), where he is currently an associate professor. From October 2008 to September 2010 he was the Head of the Ph.D. Program on Telematic Engineering of the UC3M.
His research interests include user mobility and behavior modeling and prediction, location based services, smart cities, and ubiquitous computing systems in general. He has also worked in the design and performance evaluation of communication protocols, centered on transport and application layer protocols for mobile, ad-hoc and wireless networks; service discovery and composition; traffic modeling in communication networks; and in high-speed switching architectures.
In these fields he has participated in seven European projects (two as principal investigator, the Easy Wireless ITEA project and the Easy Wireless 2 Celtic project), and seven Spanish national projects (two as principal investigator, the Everyware project, and the MONOLOC project), besides several regional projects and R&D contracts with Telefonica, Nokia, and other companies. He has co-authored twenty articles in journals and more than forty book chapters and papers in congress proceedings.
