Dr. Gabriel Mannis is a hematologist/oncologist specializing in the management of acute leukemia and other hematologic malignancies. Dr. Mannis earned his undergraduate degree in Romance Languages and Literature at Harvard University and—after a brief stint at Sesame Street in New York—he received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis. During medical school he was selected as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholar and spent a year at the National Institutes of Health where he first developed an interest in acute leukemia. He went on to complete an internship/residency in Internal Medicine and fellowships in both Hematology and Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He received the American Society of Hematology Research Training Award in 2014 for his work evaluating the impact of measurable residual disease in autologous hematopoietic cell transplant for acute leukemia. After several years on the faculty at UCSF, he joined Stanford’s Division of Hematology in 2019. His research focuses on the development of novel therapies for acute leukemia, with a particular interest in immunotherapy, targeted agents, and predictive biomarkers as a means to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with hematologic malignancies
