François Vidal

François Vidal received the Ph.D. degree in theoretical subatomic physics from the University of Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1988. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Varennes, QC, Canada (INRS) and Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique (CEA), France. He then returned to INRS as a Research Associate and became a Professor in 2003. He is currently a Theoretical Physicist at the INRS, Centre Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications, University of Quebec, where he has been involved in the development of models and numerical codes related to a variety of problems. His research interests include laser propagation in nonlinear media, laser ablation and plasmas, microwaves devices, and high-harmonic generation in plasmas and on solid surfaces. in the recent years, he has been strongly involved in the analytical detection method known as LIBS in partnership with industry.
