He is an expert in the development and application of first principles computational methods to thesimulation of the structural, electronic and optical properties of inorganic and hybrid materials ancmolecules and of the functional interfaces related to optoelectronic devicesHis research interests are quite broad, spanning from the simulation of chemical reactivity in catalysis ancbiological systems, to the study of excited states in semiconductor nanostructures and optoelectronidevices.Most recent research is in the field of solar energy materials, with emphasis on water spliting, dyesensitized and perovskite solar cellsHe has a strong expertise in the coordination and management of research projects, both at the Nationaand European level, from which he received >2 million euro funding in the last 10 years.
