Federico Bizzarri was born in Genova, Italy, on October 3, 1974. Today he is a temporary research contract Assistant Professor at the Electronic and Information Department of the Politecnico di Milano.
Brief Carrier History:
1998 M.Sc. 5-year degree in Electronic Engineering, University of Genova. Graduated with first class honours (Summa Cum Laude). Dissertation: On the applicability of Interval Analysis to circuit numerical simulation. Supervisor: Prof. MauroParodi.
1998-2001 Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, University of Genova. Dissertation: Analysis and synthesis of a chaotic oscillator based on hysteresis. Supervisor: Prof. Mauro Parodi.
2001 Visitor at the Laboratory of Nonlinear Systems of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, supervisor Prof. Martin Hasler. Research activity on: "Chaotic signals for the definition of spread-spectrum communication systems characterized by noisy channels." Sponsored by the University of Genova.
2001-2002 Employed in FINCANTIERI Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A. (Genova – Italy) in the group "Combat System Architecture" to develop and apply System Engineering models in the feasibility study of naval vessels.
2002-2005 External Research Collaborator, the Biophysical and Electronic Engineering Department, University of Genova.
2005-2008 Postdoctoral Research Assistant, the Biophysical and Electronic Engineering Department, University of Genova, supervisor Prof. Marco Storace.
2008-2009 Postdoctoral Research Assistant, the ARCES Research Center of the University of Bologna.

Piecewise-linear (PWL) approximation techniques of n-variate functions for engineering applications (e.g., emulation of nonlinear dynamical systems, nonlinear control systems)
Analysis and design of algorithms for early-vision image processing suitable for the implementation on DSP boards
Information processing (synthesis of cellular nonlinear networks for parallel nonlinear information processing, classification of chaotic sequences, approximation of bivariate functions based on the properties of the Singular Value Decomposition)
