Research projects: 1. Na,K-ATPase: study of different bufadienolides, in particular their molecular mechanism as diuretics. We are also trying to find compounds that could harbor functional selectivity, i.e. able to separate the activation of the Src kinase pathway from the inhibition of the Na+-pump. 2. Drug development. These efforts are essentially targeted to new drug candidates for the treatment of Schizophrenia (N-heterocyclic phenylpiperazines) and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
