Bio
Associate Professor Fiona Dobson is the Deputy Head of Physiotherapy and is the department team lead for Research and Evidence curriculum. Her current research focuses on the role of physical activity and exercise for people living with chronic musculoskeletal health conditions, including osteoarthritis.
Fiona's research expertise includes outcome measurement, systematic reviews and meta-analysis and exercise clinical trials. She has published over 60 peer reviewed journal articles and has an active research program that aims to better understand how to improve joint health, pain and physical function for people living with hip osteoarthritis including the use of telehealth strategies. Fiona is a Sir Robert Menzies Foundation Allied Health Scholar and her research has informed international clinical practice guidelines, models of health care and health care standards. She is committed to mentoring graduate researchers and academics for success and is an academic mentor for the Faculty Supporting Women in MDHS (SWiM) mentoring for promotion program. She supervises graduate research students with projects across various health conditions including musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders across the lifespan and is available to take on new students with interests in these areas.
