Faridah Abas is a Professor in the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at the Universiti Putra Malaysia where she has been a faculty member since 2006. She received her Ph.D. in Phytochemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2005. Her research interests lie in the area of functional foods, natural products chemistry, and metabolomics. Faridah Abas is a registered member of Phytochemical Society Asia (PSA), Institute of Food Technology (IFT), Metabolomics Society, Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and Malaysian Natural Products Society. Currently, she is also a secretary for the Malaysian Natural Products Society (MNPS) and Fellow of the Royal Society for Chemistry (FRSC). Faridah Abas responsible for managing 17 research projects from various government agencies with total funding of more than RM 2 million (~USD500,000). In addition, she also co-researcher for more than 30 projects amounting to more than RM 8 million (~USD 2 million) since 2006. To date, she has published 1 joint-edited book, 2 book chapters and over 300 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her published work has been cited more than 6000 times, and her h-index is 43. Faridah Abas also serves as an Associate Editor of the International Food Research Journal (IFRJ) and editorial board member for the Journal of Contemporary Medical Sciences.
