My research interest span through physical chemistry (electrochemistry, kinetics, adsorption, thermodynamics of corrosion - extensive researches on corrosion inhibition in different media using electrochemical, gravimetric, gasometrical and thermometric methods; synergistic and antagonistic studies. Plant extracts, exudate gums, polymers, ionic liquids, synthetic organic and inorganic compounds have been investigated as inhibitors. Quantum chemical / molecular modeling and theoretical studies of compounds used for corrosion inhibition studies using density functional theory (DFT) and other semi-empirical methods, solid state chemistry/contemporary materials chemistry and physics (thin film deposition using nebulized spray pyrolysis technique). Am currently interested in using some quantum chemical methods like density functional theory (DFT) and other semi-empirical methods to study corrosion inhibition efficiencies of compounds/ surface analysis and interface reactions; extensive quantitative structure activity relationship studies (QSAR); Molecular dynamics/ Monte Carlo Simulation studies. I have published widely and extensively in the area of corrosion inhibition chemistry and currently has an H-Index of 40 and over 5406 total citations from the Scopus Search Engine of Elsevier Science since 1996. According to the Elsevier SciVal Insights Report (2010-2015) , I have a citation impact 10% above world average; second most prolific author in the field of corrosion inhibition world wide and fifth most downloads of his publications globally in the field of corrosion inhibition. My Google Scholar Citations since 2011 is over 6000 with an H index of 51 and i10-index of 139. His RESEARCHERID account shows H index of 33 with total citations of 3087 and average citation per article of 12.86. Am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) and a member of Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf).
