个人简介
I have a PhD and MSc in archaeological science, and I specialise in zooarchaeology. My research to date has mainly focussed on zooarchaeological assemblages from European prehistory, but I have worked on faunal material dating from the Middle Pleistocene to the Post-Medieval period.
I'm currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Fellow at BioArCh in the Department of Archaeology at the University of York (UK) and a Research Fellow in Archaeozoology at the University of Nottingham on the AHRC funded Box Office Bears project.
Prior to this I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Fellow at the department of Integrative Prehistory and Archaeological Science (IPAS) at the University of Basel, where I` undertook the project LAKEBOS: Cattle at prehistoric lake-dwelling sites in Switzerland: an investigation of husbandry practices and the spread of cultural influence.
My PhD investigated the morphological variability of the European aurochs (Bos primigenius). Prior to this I completed an MSc in Environmental Archaeology at the same institution, through which I have also been trained in archaeobotany, palynology and geoarchaeological techniques.
Since completing my PhD I have worked on prehistoric material from Portugal (Leceia and Zambujal), Roman material from Britain (Ware, Catterick and Scotch Corner) and Bulgaria (Dobri Dyal), and Medieval material from a British monastic site (Norton Priory).
My research has produced a number of high impact publications including in the Journal of Archaeological Science and Antiquity. I have also published the dataset resulting from my PhD research, and a book based on this project as a British Archaeological Reports volume.
I have teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including on the MSc in Osteoarchaeology at the University of Sheffield. I have also supervised zooarchaeology Masters dissertations.
I have coordinated numerous public engagement activities and events activities, both through my university department and externally, through my own determination. It is something that I feel very passionate about, and was the topic of a session that I co-organised at the Theoretical Archaeology Group conference session in 2011.
