Elisa Keating

I was born in Porto, Portugal on the 13th November 1977. I graduated in Biochemistry, by the Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto and obtained my PhD by the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto. During this course, I had training periods in Leeds University, UK, Yale University, USA, and Queen’s University, Canada. Since 1999 I am a lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and in the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto, lecturing in the areas of Biochemistry, Metabolism and Nutrition. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of the Department of Biomedicine and a member of the Pedagogical Council of the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto. I am the principal investigator of the ProNutri Group at CINTESIS, where I run my research activity focused on nutrition throughought life and metabolic programming, being an author of 38 full papers, 8 book chapters and more than 30 abstracts in conference proceedings. At present, I am running the IoMum project which aims to characterize iodine status in Portuguese pregnant women, to associate this with iodine supplemmentation and to explore the clinical practices regarding iodine suplemmentation during pregnancy. I have supervised or co-supervised 3 PhD students (1 ongoing), 10 master students (2 ongoing) and several undergraduate students. Since its foundation, I am a member of the Scientific commitee of IJUP anual meetings, and I have founded in 2010, together with the Vice-rectory for R&D the IJUP-Enterprises program, which runs under my coordination since then.
