Edward J. P. Fox

Dr. Fox’s primary research interest is the role mutational processes play in tumorigenesis. The mutation rate of cancer cells is believed to be greatly elevated. The resulting genetic diversity enables the selection of tumor promoting events and is the basis for the emergence of adaptive phenotypes that allow incipient cancer cells to evolve, invade, metastasize and become resistant to therapy. The goal of his work is to characterize the mutational heterogeneity that exists within tumors and to thereby identify processes might be exploited for the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.
