Emanuela Pichelli received the Laurea (cum laude) and the Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, in 2007 and 2011, respectively. In 2011, she has a Postdoctoral Position in the group of weather modeling, Center of Excellence for Remote Sensing and Modeling of Severe Weather (CETEMPS), University of L’Aquila. Since 2013, she has been a Visiting Scientist with the Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Division, National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Boulder, CO, USA. She participated as Investigators to National and International Projects funded by the Italian Civil protection Department and the European Space Agency. In 2012, she has been a Coorganizer of the experimental campaign over Italy of the HyMeX project. Her research interests include mesoscale meteorology in complex terrain areas, parameterization of turbulence in numerical weather prediction models (MM5, WRF-ARW), observations integration and assimilation into weather prediction models, and mesoscale models validation through observations from different source (remote, ground-based, and in situ measurements). Dr. Pichelli was the recipient of a Young Scientist Award EGU at the 10th Plinius Conference in 2008.
