Bio
Dwayne D. Surls received the B.S. degree in computer engineering and the
M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, USA.
He joined the University of Texas, Austin, TX, USA, in 2001 and was an Engineering Scientist at the Center for
Electromechanics (CEM) from 2012 to 2015. Prior to joining CEM, he was a Research Engineer with the Institute for
Advanced Technologies, University of Texas at Austin. His work at the University included research in electromagnetic
launch systems, pulsed power systems, electrical and thermal analysis of silicon-carbide semiconductor devices for
pulsed power applications, microgrid power systems, and electromagnetic, electrical, and mechanical modeling and
simulation.
