Doyeol holds 36 U.S. patents and has published a textbook, Engineering Quantum Mechanics. He has also penned three book chapters and coauthored more than 250 journal and conference papers. He was the recipient of the Ross J. Martin Award and the Robert T. Chien Memorial Award from the College of Engineering, University of Illinois, for excellence in research. In 2005, he was elected as an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to the theory of semiconductor quantum-well lasers and the development of quantum information communication research. In 2009, he also became a Fellow of American Physical Society.
