After concluding Classics High School studies, Prof. Domenico Bonamonte enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Bari University in academic year 1989/90. Intern at the Institute of Clinical Dermatology during academic years 1994/95 and 1995/96, during which he wrote his Experimental Degree Thesis on “Lichen planus and hepatitis C virus genotypes”. Degree in Medicine and Surgery, Summa cum laude, awarded by Bari University on 26 February 1996. Registration with the General Medical Council in November 1996, after passing the State Medical Examination with top marks. Specialist Degree, Summa cum laude, in Dermatology and Venereology awarded by the University of Bari in October 2001. PhD in “Allergological Sciences” awarded by the Dermatology Clinic of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2004. Since 1st January 2004, Research Fellow at the Dermatology Clinic I of Bari University. Since 1st March 2013, Associate Professor of Dermatology and Venereology, Department of Biomedical Science and Human Oncology – Section of Dermatology, University of Bari. Since academic year 1994/95 he has been an active participant in research activities at the Dermatology Clinic of Bari University Hospital, and is co-author or single author of many scientific works. These include monographs and various book chapters. Many of the publications are in English and 1 is in French. This scientific production, consisting of experimental, clinico-experimental and clinical studies, investigates various fields in Dermatology, paying special attention to etiopathogenetic aspects. In-depth studies have been made in the areas of contact dermatitis, both occupational and non, occupational dermatoses, aquatic dermatitis (prevalently of marine origin), dermatitis in the sports environment, inherited epidermolysis and pediatric dermatology. He has attended many Courses and Congresses on Dermatology, in Italy and abroad.
