Dhiren Naidu is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta. He practices in the specialty of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, is fellowship trained in Sport Medicine and holds a CASEM Diploma in Sport Medicine. His practice includes sport medicine, and acute and chronic bone and joint related conditions and injuries. He does x-ray and ultrasound guided injections and specializes in treating elite and competitive athletes using techniques such as PRP and doing preventative medical assessments. His research focuses on concussion, and he is one of the authors of the latest SCAT6 International Concussion Guidelines. Dhiren is the head team physician and medical director of the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Elks. He is the head team physician for the University of Alberta Golden Bears Football team and is the Varsity Health Physician at the University of Alberta. He has worked with these teams for over 20 seasons. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer of the Canadian Football League and has also held these roles in the Western Hockey League and the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He served as the Medical Director for the NHL Bubble in 2020. Dr. Naidu is a past recipient of Edmonton’s Top 40 under 40 award for creating a multidisciplinary approach to people who deal with musculoskeletal pain conditions. He has also received numerous teaching awards at the University and National level.
