Bio
Dean Barratt is a biomedical engineer and computer scientist with an interest in developing software algorithms to analyse medical images and translating these into healthcare environments.
Much of his recent research has focused on devising software solutions to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of solid-organ cancers, but he also has experience in image-based assessment and modelling of vascular disease and computer-assisted orthopaedic surgery.
In 2015, Dean was the engineering lead of a multidisciplinary prostate cancer research team that won Innovation Team of the Year at the presigious British Medical Journal Awards (Professor Hashim Ahmed and Professor Mark Emberton were the clinical leads). The same team went on to win other awards including a UCLH Celebrating Excellence Award for Contributions to World Class Research in 2016.
