David F. Richards Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, CA 94550 USA (richards12@llnl.gov). Dr. Richards is a Computational Physicist with the Center for Applied Scientific Computing at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). He received a Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1999. He joined LLNL in 2006 and has over 20 years of experience in scientific computing as both a user and application developer in academic, industrial, and national lab settings. His current projects include helping applications prepare for next-generation supercomputers and curating proxy applications for the Exascale Computing Project. He was a winner of the 2007 ACM Gordon Bell Prize.
