As chief scientific officer, Dr. Spigel oversees Sarah Cannon's clinical trial program, working with the research physician leaders and pharma/biotech partners to ensure cutting-edge therapies are available to patients.

Dr. Spigel is a board member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association of Cancer Research, International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.

His research has been published more than 150 times in peer-reviewed publications, including The Lancet Oncology, The New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the Journal of Oncology Practice and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He has served as an editor for several scientific publications, including Targeted Therapies, Oncology & Biotech News, Contemporary Oncology and the World Journal of Clinical Oncology, and a reviewer for numerous other publications. Dr. Spigel has also presented at numerous scientific conferences.
