David A. Lavan

David A. LaVan received the B.S. degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA. He did post-doctoral training with Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, USA, and with the Harvard-MIT HS&T Program. He was a Faculty Member with Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA, before joining the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, MD, where he currently leads the Nanocalorimetry Measurements Project. His work includes instrument design and development, nanocalorimetry, MEMS design and fabrication, BioMEMS, and biomaterials.
