Dariusz Maciejewski

Dariusz Maciejewski, 65 years old, Head of the Department of Nursing of the University in Bielsko-Biała and Head of 15-bed, accredited for the specialized training of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of the Provincial Teaching Hospital in Bielsko-Biała. D.Maciejewski a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University in Wrocław. He has been working since 1982 in Bielsko-Biała. Specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care (1988). In the course of his professional career, he held various positions in the Health Care administration (among others, he was the Director of the Provincial Hospital for Healthcare, the Chief Physician, the Provincial Specialist with anesthesiology and intensive care and the Chairman of the Team of Provincial Specialists).In 1992 under the guidance of prof. Zygmunt Antoszewski defended his doctorate in autotransfusion and hemodynamics, and in 2005 he obtained the degree of habilitated doctor in mechanical ventilation (the patron of habilitation Prof. Andrzej Kübler). He is a member of the General Board of the Polish Society of Intensive Interdisciplinary Therapy (2013). He deals with the problems of ventilation treatment in science and research - he is the founder and scientific director of the Polish School of Mechanical Ventilation. He is the organizer of numerous Conferences and Courses, including Congresses of Mechanical Ventilation and Respiratory Therapy. An additional field of interest is intensive therapy for septic shock - in this respect he participates in the work of the Polish Sepsy Group and is a co-author of Polish Guidelines for Sepsy Treatment as well as Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition in Intensive Therapy. He took part in numerous trainings and conferences in the country and abroad. He is the author of over 170 scientific and research papers and reports at domestic and foreign conferences, of which 21 are chapters of medical textbooks, 31 are reviewed research papers. There is, among others author of the only Polish monograph on percutaneous tracheotomy and the scientific editor of three basic textbooks on mechanical ventilation and one on acid-base balance. Since 2005, he has been a research and didactic employee of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko-Biała. From 2008, by decision of the Senate, ATH appointed an associate professor, at the same time managing the Department of Nursing and Medical Rescue at this university. He is also a third term member of the University Senate. Promoter of 6 PhDs defended. He cooperated with CMKP as the chairman of the Committee of Experts in the field of accreditation of intensive care facilities. He was a collaborator of the Agency for Health Technology Assessment, a member of the Main Board of the Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care for three terms (until 09.2011), Chairman of the Outpatient Anesthesia Section. He was the head of specialization for over 40 doctors. By the decision of the Minister of Health, from January 23, 2017 he was appointed as the National Consultant in the field of Intensive Care.
