Daniela Marques

Daniela Filipa Pereira Marques completed her Master in Experimental Pathology in 2017 by Faculdade de Medicina of Universidade de Coimbra and her Degree in Human Biology in 2015 by Universidade de Évora Escola de Ciências e Tecnologia. Currently, Daniela is a research fellow at Doctor Cláudia Nunes dos Santos Laboratory at Centro de Doenças Crónicas, Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and member of the ERC-804229 project "LIMBo: Zooming the link between diet and brain health: how phenolic metabolites modulate brain inflammation. Her research goals are to understand how physiological relevant microbiota-derived dietary (poly)phenol metabolites influence brain health by the modulation of neuroinflammation status of the brain, in the blood-brain barrier. She is also interested to identify candidate compounds that may be a new strategy to delay and/or postpone the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Daniela has 4 published articles as co-author and will be a co-author of another 2 manuscripts currently submitted. She has 1 book chapter as the first author submitted, 1 poster communication, and 2 oral communications, a Webinar for Instituto Ricardo Jorge, and an Open class for a Degree in Biotechnology at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria. Her work during the master’s degree gave her the opportunity to have 8 published poster-shaped communication and 5 published abstracts as oral communication in Diabetologia and Revista Portuguesa de Diabetes. She also organized and monitored the Langen Nacht der Forschung at Medical University of Vienna and participated in outreach activities to the public (e.g. CEDOC open day in 2020). Furthermore, she participated as a volunteer on COVID-Task Force at CEDOC.
