As an emeritus faculty member I undertook some research projects in melanoma and continued as Director of Shared Resources for the Cancer Center, ending in 2013. I had oversight of the operation of about 10 scientific core facilities with a total budget of ~ $5M annually.
Developed the technique of Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH) that is widely used for analysis of variations in DNA copy number among different cells and cell populations. Subsequently worked with collaborators to develop an microarray approach for CGH. This effort involved developing a complete microarray system including novel slide substrates, array printers, imaging systems, and analytical approaches. This technology is patented and licensed to Abbott.
