Daniel P. Miranker is a Full Professor, in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin, where he has taught since 1986. He holds degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from Columbia University and MIT. Starting with his Ph.D. dissertation, a consistent theme in Miranker’s research is a focus on parallel and distributed processing of large-scale databases in concert with applications in knowledge-base systems and machine learning. Miranker has made fundamental contributions in the areas of search and pattern matching as they are applied to biological data, knowledge-base systems and parallel and distributed databases.
