Diego M. Solís was born in O Grove, Galicia, Spain, in 1983. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the University of Vigo, Spain, in 2007 and 2014, respectively. From 2007 to 2010, he worked as a Digital Electronics and Software Engineer in the automotive research and development sector, until he started his research on computational electromagnetics and nanophotonics at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications, University of Vigo, in 2011. In 2006, he was a visiting student at the Department of Acoustic Technology, Ørsted, and Danmarks Tekniske Universitet, Denmark, where he defended his M.Sc. thesis. In 2012 and 2013, he carried out part of his doctoral research at the ElectroScience Laboratory, The Ohio State University, and at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Politecnico di Torino, Italy, respectively. In 2017 and 2018, he was a Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher at the Electrical and Systems Engineering Department, University of Pennsylvania (where he currently holds a postdoctoral position), and at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, The University of Texas at Austin, respectively. His main research interests include numerical techniques, plasmonics, and metamaterials.
