Her primary research interests include (i) examining antithrombotic management and outcomes after ischemic stroke in patients with cancer, (ii) detection of occult cancer in patients with cryptogenic (unexplained) ischemic stroke; (iii) prevention and management of anticoagulant-related bleeding, (iv) perioperative management of anticoagulation for urgent surgery, and (v) reduction of blood loss and transfusion in critically ill patients,. Her research is funded by CIHR, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, CanVECTOR, and the American Society of Hematology. She has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles (h-index 38).

Dr. Siegal has expertise in the design and conduct of pragmatic cluster randomized trials, individual patient randomized trials, mixed-methods studies, prospective observational studies, administrative health database research, and meta-analyses.
