Cattien V. Nguyen

Cattien Nguyen received the Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1996. From 1996 to 1999, he ws a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Center for Polymer Interface and Molecular Assemblies, Chemical Engineering Department, Stanford University, Stanford, CA, and IBM Alamaden Research Center, working on photoresists and low dielectric materials for microelectronic applications. Since 1999, he has been at the NASA Ames Center for Nanotechnology, Moffett Field, CA, where he is a Senior Research Secientist. He also holds a joint appointment as a Research Professor in the Departments of Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University. His research interests include fabrication of single carbon nanotube devices for such applications as scanning probe microscopy and scanning probe lithography. His current research involves fundamental mechanical and electrical properties of single carbon nanotubes, exploring the applications of carbon nanotube scanning probes for biological applications and nanofabrication. He has authored or coauthored more than 50 publications.
