Mr Cumberbatch is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He completed his urological training and Wellcome Trust funded PhD in Yorkshire. More recently, he visited Melbourne, Australia, where he completed a pre-CCT fellowship sponsored by the RSM and NIHR in robotic surgery and urological oncology. He is the regional uro-oncology MDT lead and also heads up the foundation doctor programme for urology. Mr Cumberbatch is the principal investigator on a number of NIHR portfolio clinical trials investigating the use of robotics in minimally invasive surgery, patient outcome measures and cancer screening. Mr Cumberbatch has published >45 research papers in high impact journals and has an international reputation for his understanding of cancer epidemiology. He is the co-applicant on current research grants exceeding £3million investment.
