Dr. Kalocsai is a medical anthropologist whose research applies social science theories and ethnographic and other qualitative research methodologies to the study of health professions education and client, patient, and family education. She currently investigates youth and safety within the changing landscape of substance use and opioid crisis, and aims to co-produce harm-reduction based digital education with and for transition-age youth. She also aims to better understand co-produced education and equitable service user engagement in health professions and public education in the field of mental health and substance use.
Dr. Kalocsai currently holds a Project Scientist position in Patient/Client and Family Education at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and previously worked in critical and palliative care at Sunnybrook Research Institute and the University Health Network and in surgery in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. She has a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Yale University, USA, and an MPhil in Gender and Culture from Open University, UK.
