Research Interests:
Dr. Woolsey’s research interests include nonlinear control theory for mechanical systems, particularly energy-based
control methods, and applications to ocean and atmospheric vehicles. Woolsey is the director of the Virginia Tech
site in the Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (c-uas.org). He co-directs the Nonlinear Systems Laboratory
(www.nsl.aoe.vt.edu), with colleagues Dr. Mazen Farhood and Dr. Cornel Sultan. Woolsey is a member of the
Autonomy and Robotics faculty at VT
