He has been a reviewer for many international scientific journals (more than 100 reviews certified on Web of Science), among which Science, Nature Catalysis, Applied Catalysis B and Chemical Engineering Journal. Since 2022, he has joined the Editorial Board of Journal of Energy Chemistry (Elsevier, IF=13.599). Recently, he was invited as a Visiting Professor and/or a Researcher in prestigious universities and research institutions abroad (in Portugal, Spain, France and Switzerland) in the framework of Erasmus Plus and Research & Mobility projects. He was named in the world’s top 2% of Scientist List for 2020 and 2021 years by the Stanford University. His recent research interests are focused on development of novel photo-electro-catalytic systems for sustainable production of energy, fuels and chemicals of high industrial interest. The aspects studied range from the definition and synthesis of nano-dimensional materials for the preparation of electrodes to the design and construction of unconventional electrochemical devices. The processes under investigation are: i) water photo-electrolysis and photo-reforming of organic waste streams for H2 production; ii) (photo-)electro-catalytic reduction of CO2 to value-added products (in liquid- or gas-phase); iii) electrocatalytic synthesis of ammonia from N2 and H2O at room temperature and ambient pressure as an alternative to Haber-Bosh process.
