个人简介
Chris Hill teaches the literature and cultural history of modern Japan, from the 1870s to the present. He is trained in comparative literature and intellectual history, and is especially interested in the exchange of ideas and aesthetic forms between Japan and other parts of the world. In addition to literature, his classes often include film, visual art, theater, and philosoph.
Professor Hill has published a book on nationalist thought in Japan, France, and the United States in the nineteenth century (National History and the World of Nations, Duke UP, 2008) and is completing a second book on the global career of the naturalist novel. He has begun work on a project on Japanese writers in the 1950s.
