个人简介
Cheol-Hong Hwang received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Inha University, South Korea, in 2006. He currently works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Fire & Disaster Prevention at Daejeon University, South Korea. His major research interests include combustion and fire dynamics related to the understanding of fundamental phenomena and their practical applications.
Specific areas of research interest are as follows.
A. Fire Dynamics
- Buoyant jet flames
- Over- and under-ventilated compartment fires
- Fire ignition and suppression (flame extinction) phenomena
- Soot and CO formation characteristics in fire environments
- Fire spread on solid combustibles
- Validation and verification of fire models (FDS, CFAST etc.)
- Development and evaluation of fire detection system (smoke and heat detectors)
- Development and validation of measurement methods in fire environments
- Fire and smoke behaviors under the micro- and hyper-gravity conditions
- Fire safety design and management
- Assessment of fire risk
- Fire investigation
B. Combustion
- Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of turbulent flames
- Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of laminar flames
- Combustion instabilities in a lean-premixed practical combustor
- Control of combustion noise in the practical combustors such as gas turbine and boiler
- Flame stability and interchangeability of gas fuels
- Pollutant emissions such as NOx, CO and soot in combustion field
- Soot formation in non-premixed and fuel-rich premixed flames
