个人简介
She currently serves on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Discoveries, and reviews for a number of psychology, sociology, and management journals.
Professor Shea’s research examines selection processes in organizations. Her research investigates how and why individuals form connections with others from a motivational perspective. That is, how an individual’s goals and motivations influence who they reach out to in their networks, and how they structure their social world during goal pursuit. Her research is published in a variety of top academic journals including Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Psychological Science, the Academy of Management Journal, Social Networks, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. Her unpublished work-in-progress examines social selection questions related to gender and diversity, social networks, goals, interpersonal processes, and job interviews. She employs multiple methodologies in her research including social network analysis, experiments, archival data analysis, and interviews, and enjoys studying multi-level processes in organizations (e.g., how psychological processes can aggregate to create structural outcomes).
Professor Shea’s research has been featured in various media outlets including New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NBC, Psychology Today, Scientific American Mind, the Globe and Mail, Health Magazine, and the Huffington Post. Her research has won numerous awards including an American Psychological Association’s Best Dissertation Award.
