个人简介
Bradford Mott is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science with an emphasis on artificial intelligence from North Carolina State University in 2006. His dissertation work explored the generation of decision-theoretic models of narrative planning for interactive 3D learning environments under the direction of Dr. James Lester and Dr. Michael Young. His research spans game-based learning environments, intelligent tutoring systems, digital games, and computational models of interactive narrative. He has served as co-PI on projects supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His research has been recognized with several best paper awards and he has contributed to several award winning video games, including one that received a game of the year award.
In addition to his academic experience, Dr. Mott brings many years of software development experience from industry, including extensive experience in the video game industry, having served as Technical Director at Emergent Game Technologies where he created cross-platform middleware solutions for Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation video game consoles. He is an active entrepreneur with technology licenses and startup experience. Prior to joining Emergent, he co-founded LiveWire Logic, a venture-backed AI-based enterprise software company, with colleagues from NC State. At LiveWire Logic, he served as the Vice President of Technology and worked with the development team to design, implement, and refine the RealDialog™ product suite — an automated customer service solution leveraging corpus-based computational linguistics. He led the design and implementation of the RealDialog authoring tool suite and natural language processing engine. LiveWire Logic was acquired by Astute Solutions in early 2006.
