Dr. Lai received his B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from National Chiao-Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1999. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from UCLA in 2003 and 2007, both in Electrical Engineering. His research area concerns the design of multi-core architecture, parallel computing, low power designs, and networking embedded systems. Dr. Lai received the Academic Achievement Awards from National Chiao-Tung University in 1998 and 1999. He received the scholarship from John Deere Foundation in 2003. During his study at UCLA, Dr. Lai won two times DAC (Design Automation Conference) student design contest in 2003 and 2005. From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Lai worked at Broadcom Corporation as a staff scientist. He was focusing on the design of high-speed enterprise network switches. The enterprise switches are among the largest systems in Broadcom and use the most advanced semiconductor technology on the market. Dr. Lai joined National Chiao-Tung University in August 2009, where he is currently an assistant professor at Department of Electronics Engineering.
