Bjørnar Tessem was born in Steinkjer, Norway, in 1961. He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in informatics from the University of Bergen, Norway, in 1983, 1985, and 1990, respectively. He has been an Associate Professor and a Full Professor in information science with the University of Bergen (UoB), since 1991 and 1999, respectively. He was a private IT consultant, from 2000 to 2004. He has been a Professor with UoB since 2002. He is currently an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Strategy and Management, Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen. His main research interests include artificial intelligence (natural language processing, analogical reasoning, and Bayesian networks), information systems, and software engineering. He has authored more than 100 scientific articles in a variety of fields and is a regular reviewer in high-quality conferences and journals.
